While Wallis’s civil justice system primarily applies federal law, its judicial organization is specific to the Canton. The canton is divided into judicial districts, with boundaries that may vary depending on the type of judicial authority.

District Courts handle nearly all civil disputes with a single judge. The Adult and Child Protection Authority oversee child and adult protection matters. The municipal justice system handles conciliation, along with certain inheritance cases. The Cantonal Court functions as the High Court.

Several courts have initiated pilot projects implementing the Parental Consensus approach. We appear before these Courts on a daily basis.
